There are seven at-grade intersections between Bracebridge and Huntsville along Hwy 11. These force vehicles to merge or cross traffic travelling at more than 100 km/h.
This stretch of highway has seen 690 accidents in 10 years, many of which are caused by these dangerous intersections.
Ten years ago the Province proposed to replace these dangerous intersections with flyover bridges and two new, safe interchanges.
A government study concluded this would "significantly improve safety."
With a new government in place in Queen's Park, we want to make this a priority again.
